Slow Down, You Move Too Fast

3 06 2009

It is amazing how much one is able to take in by walking instead of driving.  Today I dropped off the cheque to The Diva’s dance school for her recital video in one of the prettier areas of town.  After I did that I walked around the school to a grocery store kitty corner from the school.  As I walked I got lightly brushed across the face with a leaf of a tree whose branch was slightly too low for me to avoid.  I could smell the blossoms of the apple trees in the area and smiled to see an army of ants marching across the sidewalk.  Each brick in the school was visible in vivid detail and color.  I could have spent the day beneath a coniferous tree, counting the pine cones.  There is a sculpture that I could always see as I drove past but never had the opportunity to walk up to it and see who created it, what exactly it was, and see all the detail.  It was amazing and almost romantic.  What a lovely reasonably quiet and serene 5 minutes.

Since I moved to a house in Rural Saskatchewan I spend a lot of time driving everywhere.  I never really realized what I missed in doing that.  We jump in our vehicles and stare at the pavement while filling our vehicle with noise pollution from the radio and keeping stuffy air in our car while our windows are rolled up and shutting us away from the world.  We are missing life while we hurry to live it.

In other news, I would just like to say that Knitting Elastic is the SHIZNIT!  Seriously.  If you have issues with your ribbing losing its elasticity and just becoming a limp and lifeless mess, you can give your garment new shape, elasticity, and life by weaving in some knitting elastic.  Hey, Teach!  is back in shape and ready to go.

Saskatchewan Stitches Conference trip in three days!  Stay tuned!  And stay GROOVY!

Oh sweetie I would if that coffee shop hadn’t burned down. Her class is in the old Albert Community Centre on 12th and Clarence. Such a pretty area that whole of Nutana. I just love it. Saskatoon is absolutely one of the prettiest cities in Western Canada.

Are you sure I can’t entice you to move back with a picture of the rental sign hanging on your old building? New and improved!?

Oh you sent that to me! And I looked at some of the inside photos too. How cool is that! Man that was an awesome place to live.

And, no, even that doesn’t tempt me. But send the photos if you want. You wouldn’t also happen to have the website? I would like to show my mom those photos. It would blow her mind! lol

That was when they were for sale. They aren’t for sale anymore, I imagine they sold them all. Now there is one with a “For Rent” sign on it. No pictures online anymore but I was going to take a picture of the “For Rent” sign and send it to you. lol

You know, it was the song going through my head as I was walking. I swear my life has a soundtrack.
